Why do we speak English?

There are more than 7,100 languages worldwide, with Chinese, Spanish, and English being the most widely spoken. When we look at these languages from the Internet perspective, English is the most commonly spoken and written language globally. We can call it „The Language of the Internet“ because 25,9% of users use it during their daily online activities.

English accounted for 55% of all online content today, yet less than 20 years ago, it was more than 80%. During that time, we’ve gone from being passive consumers of content to active creators of it, while online retailers have increasingly offered personalized content to attract customers.

The reason behind it being used for more than half of all internet content is that it always was and remained a pop culture language.

While this might not seem as important as the facts above, you don’t want to be the one at work or business meeting who always gets the punchline a little too late. It is useful for understanding and sharing everyday experiences and references with your colleagues and the global community. But it also helps a lot with your networking skills that ultimately get you to the right people you need to grow your business further.

Our business thankfully grew in 2020, and the export rate increased by over 90%. This rate shows, among other things, the nature of our business and gives one more reason why English. One could easily conclude that we depend on the correct, fluent, and precise use of English, and he/she would be right.

Yes, we love our Croatian language that is as beautiful as our coast but to be pragmatical and reach a broader audience, we are using English while learning how to communicate effectively, and ultimately, how to close better deals.
